THE BEST MEDICINE-
LAUGH!

SECOND DOSE
Last night, my friend and I
were sitting in the living
room and
I said to her, "I never want
to live in a vegetative
state, dependent on
some machine and fluids
from a bottle. If that ever
happens, just pull the
plug."

She got up, unplugged the
TV, and threw out my wine

In our endless search for something --anything --to help us reduce our
waist size, we now have an ally.  Blueberries.

Blueberries, according to a number of studies, can help to reduce
abdominal fat. They also help to reduce our overall triglyceride levels,
cholesterol and blood sugar.  Overall, blueberries are the bets fruit to
eat for breakfast or any meal for that matter.

The most recent study on the effectiveness of blueberries found that
rats who ate 2% of their diets in blueberries saw significant
decreases in metabolic syndrome --that syndrome caused by poor
dietary habits and sedentary lifestyles shared by over 60% of
Americans in which waist size expands, heart attack and diabetes risk
increases.  If you eat a 1800 to 2000 calories diet a day, that would
be an equivalent of about 4 cups of blueberries.  The measurements in
belly fat were taken after consumption of blueberries for 90 days.

The April 23, 2009
study on blueberries, conducted by the University
of Michigan, was lead by Dr. Mitchell Seymour and Dr. Stephen
Bolling.  The researchers speculate that phytochemicals, powerful
antioxodiants in blueberries, are responsible for the lowering of blood
sugar, triglycerides, cholesterol and belly fat.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the study was that the blueberries
seemed actually to change the way the genes work. "Blueberry intake
affected genes related to fat-burning and storage", Dr. Seymour said.
