So you think a size 4 is impossible? Think again! Have you
seen a beautiful size 4 dress on sale and thought ‘if only’?
Read on and we’ll tell you how to achieve that size 4 and you’
ll be strutting into that changing room without an ounce of
fear.


According to the U.S Misses size chart a size 4 is: Bust; 33.5”
-35”, Waist; 25.5“-26“, Hips; 34.5“-36”. It is classified as a
Small.


In the UK sizes a size 4 is a size 10. The British Standard
3666 from 1982 states that a size 10 should be: Bust; 34,
Waist; 25.5, Hips; 35.


Size 4 clothes are often the first to be reduced this is
because a US size 4 is far below what the American average
size is. There aren’t enough size 4 women out there to buy
the clothes.  According to the US Department of Health and
Human Services, the average American woman is size 14.  A
study completed by SizeUSA indicated that Americans are
getting bigger and their shapes are changing from what
clothes manufactures previously catered for. This trend has
been steadily increasing since the 1980’s. In response, those
clothes manufactures have engaged in what is known as
‘vanity sizing’-making clothes sizes bigger to make us feel
better about ourselves.


When it comes to a size 4 however, vanity sizing of a
different kind has become popular.


Don’t get disheartened if you’ve slimmed down and met the
requirements in terms of the U.S Misses chart and walk into a
high end fashion store and can’t fit into their size 4.
Sometimes in these stores Size 4 is their largest size and they
are using vanity sizing in reverse and making a size 4
smaller
to fit their ideas of super-skinny.


Flippia Hamilton, a model working in the US fashion industry
claimed that she was fired in 2009 because at a US size 4 she
was ‘too fat’. This is obviously an extreme case and the
regular woman on the street is definitely not too fat in a size
4.


So how much weight do you have to lose to be a size 4? Well
that depends on what height you are and what size of frame
you have.


If you’re the "average" size 14 you’ve got to drop an
amazing 4 dress sizes but it can be done with hard work and
a little self discipline.


Below is a chart with the ideal weights depending on height
according to the US government. You should aim for the
sizes; Bust; 34, Waist; 24.5, Hips; 35.5. If you reach these
sizes you should be able to fit into a size 4 in most stores.


However, it is important to note that because size 4 is such a
small size some people will never be able to fit into it simply
because of their bone structure. If you have a large frame,
then fitting into a size 4 may  never happen because your
bones will not meet the inch requirements.


If you slim down to the weights on the table below, it is
unlikely that you will have much body fat as they are on the
lower end of the scale for what is healthy. Never become
underweight simply to fit into a certain size as being
underweight can cause a great number of health problems,
including
osteoporosis (loss of bone density), and damage
your organs permanently.

You don't have to give up delicious meals to lose weight. Try this
hamburger salad. Use hamburger or ground chuck, simmered in its
own juices, then drain off. Use crisp greens of your choice for the
salad, add tomatoes, red onions, red peppers, feta cheese and
cucumbers. Top with a vinaigrette dressing.
